ERA is a comprehensive data collection. Institutions must submit all data on research outputs, research income, and applied measures for all relevant four-digit FoRs. These data contribute to the national benchmarking and national report. However, only the disciplines where the university is considered research active are evaluated. An institution is considered research active if the number of research outputs in the field of research within the reference period meet a low volume threshold. A low volume threshold is determined according to the whether the discipline is assessed using a citation analysis or a peer review methodology. Please refer to ERA 2018 Submission Guidelines for the calculation for a low volume threshold.
While some outputs submitted to ERA do not become assessed UoEs because they are below threshold, the vast majority of the research outputs submitted in ERA are included in the assessment. The chart shows the distribution of assessed outputs by two-digit FoR.
Note: although the proportion of the outputs not assessed in the FoR 10 Technology looks relatively high, the total number of outputs is particularly low for that discipline.
