Science and Research Priorities
The Australian Government has identified nine Science and Research Priorities. The priorities, developed in consultation with leaders from industry, research and government, are designed to focus Australian Government support for science and research on the most important challenges facing Australia.
The current Science and Research Priorities are:
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Cybersecurity
- Energy
- Environmental Change
- Food
- Health
- Resources
- Soil and Water
- Transport
The Science and Research Priorities ensure that appropriate levels of public funding are allocated to research that addresses the most immediate problems facing Australia. Institutions were given the option of listing Science and Research Priorities that were relevant to the impact described.
The table lists the frequency that a Science and Research Priority was listed by discipline. Environmental Change and Health were the most frequently listed priorities across all disciplines.
The chart presents the frequency with which Science and Research Priorities were listed across all UoAs. The most commonly listed priorities were:

- Soil and water
