Community support and safety

Many universities submitted studies that highlighted the discovery of innovative solutions to support communities and their safety. This characterised 57 highly rated impact studies. The impacts identified ranged from:

  • improved work health and safety standards
  • support for law and order
  • development of lifesaving medical treatments
  • development of new technology for the Australian Defence Force.

In the area of supporting law and order, 16 highly rated impact studies involved legal research to make improvements to legislation and sentencing practices.

A number of FoRs were associated with this theme including 11 Biomedical and Clinical Sciences, 18 Law and Legal Studies and 10 Technology.
