This indicator was broader than cash support from end-users. It included total funding (not just cash from research end-users) from the specified Category 1 and Categories 2, 3(i,ii,iii) and 4. For comparative purposes, the funding was divided by the institutions’ reported FTE for each FoR, to account for the varying size of institutions.

Total HERDC income per FTE is shown as a distribution of UoAs and the band is exclusive of the value of the band. For example, 01 Mathematical Sciences, 4 UoAs has values equal to, or greater than, $1 per FTE and less than $16,000 per FTE.
