Engagement and Impact Assessment 2018-19

Research impact was assessed based on qualitative impact studies that detailed the impact and the research that was associated with the impact. In impact studies, institutions described the contribution the research made to the economy, society, environment or culture, beyond the contribution to academic research. Information was also supplied on the research which underpinned the impact.

The charts show the number of assessed UoAs and the distribution of ratings for impact by two-digit Fields of Research (FoR), interdisciplinary, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research. The codes with the largest number of high rated UoAs were 09 Engineering (20), 18 Law and Legal Studies (18), 11 Public and Allied Health (18), and 07 Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences (18).

The codes with the highest percentage of high rated UoAs for impact were 07 Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences (78 per cent), 18 Law and Legal Studies (72 per cent) and 09 Engineering (69 per cent).

Note: Two UoAs (see FoR 12 and 20) received impact ratings for the overall content of the impact study and ratings for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research content. Both ratings are included in the charts.
