This section provides a summary of ERA 2018 data at the two-digit Fields of Research (FoR). Eligible patents for ERA 2018 include Australian standard patents and their international equivalents, but not Australian innovation patents. 'Other International' includes all other countries not listed in the table below. Triadic patents are a series of corresponding patents filed at the European Patent Office (EPO), the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the Japan Patent Office (JPO), for the same invention by the same applicant or inventor. A total of 1,282 patents were submitted to ERA 2018. Almost 30% of patents were submitted in both of the categories 'Other International' and 'United States'. See Section 4 for a detailed breakdown.
