This section presents analyses of staffing profile (headcount) of ERA 2018 data by two-digit Fields of Research. The charts show staffing profile by gender, Employment Level, Status and Function. In ERA 2018, 40 staff were reported as 'X'. These staff do not appear on the following chart due to the scale.




Employment Level—number of researchers

Employment Level—proportion of researchers

The percentage of females was highest in Non-Academic higher in Non-Academic at 24 per cent. The percentage of males was highest in Level E at 91 per cent.

Employment Status—number of researchers

For each status, there were more males than females. ‘Other Employed’ had the highest percentage of males at 82 per cent. The highest percentage of females was in ‘Employed on a Casual Basis’ at 30 per cent.
