Forty highly rated impact studies focused on addressing challenges that affect society. Often the issues being addressed were on a very large scale or reflected whole-of-society challenges. Examples included:
- supporting the Australian economy by improving ageing infrastructure and finding efficiencies in global supply chains
- addressing climate change and food security
- improving bushfire management
- ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture is preserved for future generations.
Eleven highly rated impact studies directly addressed food security.
The FoRs that were associated with this theme included 01 Mathematical Sciences, 07 Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences and 21 History and Archaeology.
